About Us

Created in 2008 by Nicole Andrus and Sophie Carralot, Niso Wine Tours is Spain’s first tourism operation that allows their customers to design their own tours or choose from several pre-designed packages on-line. Offering private and personalized wine tours that cater to today’s most discerning wine enthusiasts, Niso Wine Tours is authentic, educational and most of all, fun!

Nicole Andrus and Sophie Carralot, the sole owners of Niso Wine Tours, met several years ago through mutual friends in the Spanish town of Sitges where they discovered a mutual passion for wine and travel. Nicole, who has an extensive background in the wine industry, and Sophie, who has several years of experience in the tourism sector, decided to combine their broad knowledge base and start Niso Wine Tours. Nicole and Sophie have each lived in Spain for close to ten years and using their collective knowledge of Spanish wine and tourism, their objective is to introduce American, European and Asian tourists to the unique charms of Spain through customized tours of the Iberian Peninsula. In addition to VIP wine tours, they also offer their customers the option of choosing from a variety of activities, including but not limited to cultural tours of Spain’s major cities, shopping excursions, spa packages, golfing, fishing, balloon and helicopter rides, horseback riding, and day tours by boat.

Nicole Andrus

Founder & Wine Specialist

Raised in the Napa Valley of California where her parents founded Pine Ridge Winery in 1978 and Archery Summit Winery in Oregon in 1994, Nicole has done everything from pitch-forking grape stems and performing lab analyses to assisting her parents with sales and marketing in domestic and foreign markets.

Due to her interest in the scientific arena, she obtained an undergraduate degree in Biology and a Master’s Degree in Molecular Plant Systematics, where she studied a plant genus endemic to the Galapagos Islands. While she both enjoyed and excelled in her chosen field of Botany, after time she yearned to return to her roots in the wine industry and to live overseas.

In 2002 Nicole accepted a position in the research and development department at Bodegas Miguel Torres in Spain, combining her scientific background with her long time affinity for wine. She worked at Torres for two and a half years, and then served as an independent wine consultant for various Spanish wineries interested in exporting their wine to the US market. In 2005 she joined Michael Mondavi’s Folio Fine Wine Partners as the company’s Spanish Imports Specialist, where she divided her time between liaising with producers, hosting groups in Spain and travelling in the U.S. to educate American customers on Spanish wines.

While Nicole continues to consult for Folio, she decided to start a new enotourism company and founded Niso Wine Tours in 2008 with her long time friend, Sophie Carralot. Nicole’s position within NWT will be to serve as the wine educator, guide and translator, where she hopes to share her passion and love of wine with each of NWT’s customers.

Sophie Carralot

Founder & Administrative Director

Born in France in 1972, Sophie Carralot is a person who has a natural gift for languages and working with people. Upon completing her undergraduate degree (triple-major in French, English and German), she moved to the Netherlands where she obtained the Dutch equivalent of an MBA, which included a bilingual diploma in French and Dutch. While in graduate school, Sophie focused her studies on the tourism industry and after graduating she began working for the Dutch company, Arke Reizen, where she negotiated several contracts with major airlines, hotel chains, and insurance companies.

In 2000 Sophie began working for Zwapak, another Dutch firm, in order to diversify her skill set. This new position gave her the opportunity to work within the export/import sector of a major flower packaging company in Holland, where she served as the head of customer relations for the French and Swiss markets.

After spending nine years in the Netherlands, Sophie moved to Spain where she expanded her linguistic repertoire and obtained another degree in Spanish while working in tandem for a German editorial company, where she was in charge of the French and Belgium markets.

As Sophie desired to return to the tourism sector, she joined forces with Nicole, and as co-founder of Niso Wine Tours, her major role will be to serve as the company’s administrative director.
